When you were trying to restore your custom 3.1.3 ipsw file which you cooked with pwnageTool or sn0wbreez, itunes show this error" The iphone "iphone" could not be restored. An unknown error occureed (1604)"
For fix This error Follow this guide:
Step 1: Download iH8sn0w iREB 2.2 for Windows or Mac
Step 2: Start itunes and connect your phone via USB in DFU mode( press and hold your phone "Home" button and "Power" button at the same time for few seconds, until you got pop up message on your computer screen that " your iphone has detected in recovery mode).
Step 3: Now Close your itunes and Start iREB file.
Step 4: Now select your device and wait for red or white screen, appear on your iphone or ipod screen.
Step 5: Open itunes now and select your phone from the sidebar in itunes. Now press and hold "shift" key on the keyboard and then click on "restore" button. select a custom (.ipsw) file that you have cooked with pwnageTool or Sn0wbreeze.
Step 6: iTunes now restore your iphone or ipod touch to firmware 3.1.3 without any error hopefully.

Is there any way to fix these errors on an early-model 3GS?
i have an iphone 3g when i use this tool nothing happens on my phones screen 3.1.3 - 5.12.01 i have tried with the phone totally off and also with the connect to i tunes screen nothing happens with both please help.
make sure the cable is connected to your pc. then shut down the iPhone, and then hold the power and home button for few seconds. After beep sound release the power button, but keep holding the home button. hope this will work.
